Kodiak is home to the "oldest wooden building on the West Coast", we know it as the Baranov Museum. The museum houses local treasures and exhibits on Russian colonists and the early American era, WWII and the present day.

The Alutiiq and Archaeological Museum, the Kodiak Military Museum, at Fort Abercrombie, the Kodiak Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center are just a few of the other 'must sees' on every visitors list.

If shopping is on your list, downtown offers a variety of gift shops, with an array of items from the kitsch to the beautiful.

If adventure is on your agenda, kayaking is a great way to see the island, or hiking some of Kodiak's many trails.

Last but in no means least, Kodiak is a fishing port and a chartered fishing trip is a great way to spend a day. Kodiak has many fishing charters available.Once you've landed that Halibut, a fresh seafood dinner just may be the perfect way to end the day.
